The White Rabbit Time by katty-kat The White Rabbit Time by katty-kat
This is something recent that was a part of my graphics folio. It is an advertisement to promote the watch company "White Rabbit Time" through an "Alice in Wonderland" based theme. The idea was to communicate the idea of fantasy and fairytale in the way that it would appeal to upper middle class socio-economic group of consumers. As well as being based on Lewis Caroll's beloved fairytale, this ad also depicts the sense of time. The alice and wonderland images portay a time dimension that everyone of us basically gets caught up in when they are late...a mix of things...a blunder that is almost so surreal.
The contrast of the red panel at the bottom of the page was made to draw our attention to random phrases to illustrate a sense of time rather than using a traditional tongue-in-cheek slogan or motto. I have also designed the White Rabbit logo.

looks very...intense i should say. something that would be 'fun' to look at when high. lol especially with all the twirls and etc.

i don't know, i am trying to think how appealing this is (no offense meant just analysing). it seems elegant with the rabbit in the suit although i don't think i'd be knowing it's a watch advert. i'd be thinking, "must be some acid club advert : /"

Nah, its cool. I am not very used to computer graphics and this was like something that i thought of, i guess.
I agree that when looking back at this, I see that I should have made the watch more prominent.
I am more used to making my pieces by hand, like in art. An acid club advert, hmmm...strange, but could work! :D
Your comment has been helpful, thanks. Some nice constructive criticism, as they call it!

no problem. i used to be really into art, graphics, all that lot but stopped recently. i was going to do architecture, photography and art/design and graphics design in college. i mean i actually really like the piece just in my opinion doesn't really make me think of watches lol.

i used to work wiht photoshop all the time so i got used to it. i could never draw anything ood nor paint but i just like the simplicity of this.

good luck in your course(s)

Well photoshop i like myself. i had Corel Graphics suite before and it had Corel Draw, Photopaint, etc. I have given up on that program because it is sooo damn difficult to use!! It doesn't allow you to do exactly what you want and is more difficult to operate. i want to do graphic design though. The area facinates me and I like it better than fine arts. I am in my final year of school and I am under an enourmous amount of strees as I have to balance my folio development with my school work. And it gets a bit hefty sometimes.

yeah i was thinking of becoming a graphics designer, designing sites and what not or 3d design but given up on that long ago. i use photoshop and pretty much only used that since....i don't know 3 years? i'm starting final year of highschool in september and it's getting hectic. trying to balance the little social life i have with school work since i haven't really done any tihs year. other then sloppy works for photography that passed me and failing history and computing...

been overwhelmingly lazy to do anything other then what i felt like so now i don't really have time for what i really wanna do. i am between sitting at home and doing stuff for college or just not doing anything. a bit annoying.

Are you an American or somewhere in the northern hemishere? 'Cause here in Australia we do not start school in September, we like get closer to finishing it, usually. I think.
Hmmm...about your pieces, are you a bit tired of your routine? Sounds like it.
I get that way too, but its winter here soo the constant greyish-white sky annoys me. Too bloody monotonous and boring!

nah, not american. uk. yeah i suppose i'm tired of producing the same pieces in different colours or what not, but everything looks like the one before it. gets boring and plain in my view.

btw i love the greyish-white sky. i don't like the sun too much so i prefer that gloomy weather

btw, do you have msn?

U.k. how's that famous British accent of yours? Strong? I am from Russia but am also an Australian since I've been living here for like 10 years! Some detect a bit of an accent some don't, meh... I don't know, don't really care, I suppose.
A lot of people like this grey sky I am talking about...but I like warm weather with a moderate amount of sun so that it doesn't get too hot or too bright. But what I miss greatly here is snow. Yeah I really miss snow but i must say that I kinda got used to the scorching sun over here!

Well, no wonder they call it an all-time classic, simply because it is. I guess it is quite surreal and it inspires people because it is unusual. I know that some of your pieces were also inspired by Alice.
I salut Lewis Caroll for this enchanting fairytale! :)
